Tamron has a long history of making compact megazoom lenses with great optical performance, they even invented the megazoon category. So the fact that Tamron now present the worldís first F/2.8 full-frame mirrorless all-in-one zoom, the new 28-200mm F/2.8-5.6 Di III RXD for Sony E is just logical. This lens has the ability to switch from wide angle to telephoto in a second and without having to change lens. It is ideal for travelling and situations where opportunities appear quickly and without warning, or when the photographer needs a small, light and compact equipment. Despite its great aperture and long reach, this lens has the same size as the popular Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 Di III RXD, and it is smaller than other megazooms in the market. The dynamic range empowers diverse photographic expressions, from wide-angle shooting of sweeping landscapes to close-up and compressive compositions at telephoto. The new 28-200mm does not only have a long reach, but has also great macro abilities. At 28mm, the MOD (Minimum Object Distance) is 0.19m with a magnification ratio of 1:3.1, at 200mm the MOD is 0.8m with a magnification ratio of 1:3.8. This makes it possible to capture stunning close-up images and leverage the bokeh utilizing the large aperture. The lens has also inherited the 67mm filter size as the previous lenses in the Tamron line up for Sony E. The shared 67mm filter size enables efficiency as the same filters, for example a polarizer filter, can be shared between all lens models.Fast, accurate and quiet Tamron 28-200mm F/2.8-5.6 Di III RXD is equipped with the popular RXD AF stepping motor, specially adapted to the focus technology used in mirrorless system cameras. It is fast, accurate and very quiet and therefore works great for video recording as well providing smooth transitions. It also supports Sony’s quick switch to manual focus (DMF, Direct Manual Focus) and the Eye AF function.Tamron has taken an uncompromising approach to optical performance, making use of special lens elementsóincluding 2 LD (Low Dispersion) and XLD (Extra Low Dispersion) lens elementsóto greatly suppress chromatic aberrations and providing a stunning image quality from edge to edge. The lens is weatherproof thanks to internal rubber gaskets and the front lens has a fluorine coating that repels raindrops, grease, dirt and makes it easier to keep clean. Key specification The worldís first F/2.8 full-frame mirrorless all-in-one zoom Great aperture of F/2.8 (@ 28mm) Dynamic range from 28-200mm Ideal for video recording, thanks to extremely quiet autofocus Support for Eye AF and DMF (Direct Manual Focus) Same filter size, 67mm, as other Tamron lenses for Sony E Great macro abilities (MOD 0.19m with a magnification ratio of 1:3.1 at 28mm and MOD 0.8m with a magnification ratio of 1:3.8 at 200mm)
